Year 10
The experiences and opportunities provided to Year 10 students allows them to identify their academic strengths and interests and assist them in making sound decisions about what they will study to obtain their Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training [NTCET] and beyond. Whilst students continue to complete the core compulsory subjects, there is the opportunity to select from a range of elective units and alternative learning pathways, including VET and online elective subjects.
The core compulsory subjects are Religious Education (or Youth Ministry), Health and Physical Education, English, History, Social Sciences, Mathematics, Personal Learning Plan and Science. In addition students select studies that will allow them to identify their interests and discover more about themselves as learners and individuals as they move further into senior school.
The disciplines students are able to select from are Visual Art (including Sculpture, Oil painting, Print Making and Textiles); Design and Technology (including Cooking, Graphics and Woodwork); Drama, Exercise Physiology, Languages, Music and Outdoor Education.
All students aged 14 years and older are able to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award. The Award can play a vital role in providing opportunities for young people to develop essential life skills, increase their employability and foster their creativity and innovation.
In Personal Development lessons students focus on Peer Support, Leadership, Study Skills, Gratitude and Mental Health.
